Fisher Associates Appointed by World Bank
In a landmark appointment, we are pleased to announce that Fisher Associates has been commissioned by the World Bank to undertake an Inter-Island Transport Study for the Cape Verde Islands.
The Islands are located in the mid-Atlantic Ocean some 570 km (354 miles) off the west coast of Africa, and a team of 14 staff drawn from two local and three UK based firms will be undertaking this work over the first half of 2011.
The study involves a comprehensive review of the maritime and aviation services for domestic connectivity and accessibility, and cost effective ways to organize a reliable and efficient transport system across the Islands using a combination of air and sea transport options.
Chris Fisher commented: “It is excellent to have won this tender against global opposition. It is testament to the practice’s growing experience base and capabilities in the wider transport field, particularly regarding Island groups, and we are looking forward to another successful assignment.”
Fisher Associates leads a consortium comprising PD Consult and Afrosondagem in Cape Verde, with specialist support provided by MVA Consultancy and BMT Nigel Gee from the UK.
