Waterways / River Passenger Transport Study, Wales

Waterways / River Passenger Transport Study, Wales

Pembrokeshire Greenways is an initiative to encourage local residents and visitors to access the countryside by sustainable modes of transport through walking, cycling, bus and train travel. And now by boat as well.

Recognising the potential of the Milford Haven Waterway and lower Cleddau Estuary in southwest Wales, Greenways partner Pembrokeshire County Council appointed Fisher Associates to conduct a feasibility study for the implementation of waterborne transport on behalf of Pembrokeshire Water Transport Group.

The study investigates the potential for a fully integrated water-based leisure and community based transport service. The service would need to provide an enhanced, reliable and realistic alternative transport opportunity within the county for both visitors and residents, thus increasing integration between waterborne and surface transport. (2007)

  • Countryside Council for Wales
  • National Trust
